Hi!
Welcome to a journey of self-discovery which will make a difference in your daily life.
Whatever you’re feeling right now there’s a purpose to your life and you’re valuable just because you’re you. Hard to believe sometimes, but that doesn’t stop it being true. We are not selling anything and it’s up to you what you get out of this page. It would be great if just something we wrote helped you.
It almost goes without saying that what you think of yourself and what you believe about yourself affects what you are – no matter what your current circumstances.
Recently someone said “Look up! There’s a heaven above you.” Actually we think its a bit closer than that – the seed of heaven is right there inside us - a good reason why everyone has value.
Before we go much further, we need to get something clear. We see a world of difference between being spiritual and being religious. History is often scathing about the ravages of religion, whereas throughout history men and women of integrity and spirituality stand out like beacons in an often dark world.
There are two ways of coping with things.
If you’re being flooded out, you may choose to keep on baling out and mopping up, or you may decide to try turning the tap off first.
Mostly in life we’re good at baling out – we go for small comforts and pleasures to make us feel better, to ease the hurts and get us through. There’s nothing wrong with chocolate, wine, beer, good food, nights out etc etc, but they don’t fix anything. Like Alice in Wonderland, life sometimes seems to alternate between a surreal dream and a nightmare. It takes a lot of courage to start thinking what our problems really are, and it’s especially painful when long standing deep feelings are getting in the way.
The good news is that we do always have the choice about our future. However, to exercise that choice we need to take a step of faith outside our comfort zone.
You may think of the bible as boring and irrelevant. It’s hard to read it, but out of its pages steps the greatest ever teacher on the basic facts of life. What he said was incredibly practical and relevant to what makes us tick. His name is Jesus.
He teaches us that life is not so much about rules as about relationships. Get them right, and everything else drops into place.
Your most important relationship is between yourself and God, and to make that work you need to discover the channel of communication - prayer.
How uncomfortable does that make you feel? Too uncomfortable? It's worth pressing on. Have a look at prayer. It's where your life-changing journey really begins.
